The Raise Up Organizing Academy is a paid, 8-week program designed to introduce those interested in activism and social justice work to organizing within the labor movement. We will be hiring a cohort of fellows from across the South – specifically in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama – to organize low-wage workers in those areas. This intensive program will combine skill-building training and political education with hands-on fieldwork.
The ideal applicant is passionate about racial and economic justice; wants to fight alongside workers to win higher wages and respect on the job; enjoys having conversations with people about the issues that matter to them; building one-on-one relationships with workers; and wants to work on winning real victories that will impact workers’ lives.
Compensation is $22/hr.

📱 Have consistent access to a smartphone and an internet connection.
🚘 Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license, auto insurance, and a reliable automobile for work use.
👋🏾 Be comfortable approaching strangers, building relationships with low wage workers, and meeting tight deadlines.
📋 Be able to maintain detailed records; willing to learn and use software for daily data tracking.
☂️ Be able to tolerate being outside for extended periods on their feet.
This is an entry-level position. No prior organizing experience is required. No degree is required. Must be at least 18 to apply. This program will run for 8 weeks starting in Spring 2022 (specific dates TBA). The application period is open until all positions are filled.
